This was originally supposed to just be a little doodle for lols, but I got carried away. x:

While Kieran's real surname is Shirasi, he changed it to Szarka, which he took from an old distant family line once he left his home. Unbeknownst to him, it means "magpie", which is a wee bit serendipitous.
Here, he has crossed into Erdovel, but hasn't made it to the next town yet-- camping it is. His shoes are around somewhere.

This also got me thinking of the spiritual aspect of his universe. At least in the regions of Ash-bozkir and Erdovel, there is no defined, organized religion, but that doesn't mean there's no aspect of spirituality among the people. There's a general belief of the reincarnation of souls and spirits of nature, but no deities. One thing that's not very agreed upon is the existence of ghosts, but it's not really an issue. More of a "pshhh you're weird" then move on type of thing. Kieran happens to believe in ghosts quite strongly. Animal spirit guides are also a widespread belief, but more prominently mentioned among those who live outside of big cities.
